Royal Scots and McPherson Clan embleem wo2. Deze twee insigne’s heeft Onno gekregen van de opa van Schotse vrienden. Opa heeft zelf gevochten in de tweede wereld oorlog.
These two badges were given to Onno by the grandfather of two Scottish friends. Their grandfather has fought in the second world war.
De linker insigne is de insigne van de Royal Scots en de rechter is ons niet helemaal duidelijk wat het is. Het komt waarschijnlijk ooit van de MacPherson clan vandaan, alle leden van die clan die vochten droegen dit. Het motto was ‘Touch not the cat but a glove’ (in Gaelic, “Na bean don chat gun lamhainn”.) Wat dit met de Opa te maken had, weten wij niet. Deze divisie is waarschijnlijk ook in Nederland geweest.
The left badge is from the Royal Scots and the right one probably came from the MacPherson clan. All members of the clan who fought in the war wore it. The inscription says; Touch not the cat but a glove’ (in Gaelic, “Na bean don chat gun lamhainn”.) What this had to to with the grandfather we don’t know. This division probably fought in Holland as well.
